The Weyburn Police Service attended a fatal industrial accident at the intersection of Government Road South and Sixth Avenue SE at about 3:10 pm on Oct. 8.
Upon arrival, it was determined that SaskPower crews were performing some type of work when the incident occurred.
A 51-year-old male SaskPower employee was deceased and a 40-year-old male SaskPower employee was seriously injured and was transported to the Weyburn General Hospital. That person succumbed to his injuries a short time later while in hospital.
The Weyburn Police Service is working in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service and Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety as they continue their investigation into this tragic matter.
In a short statement on Thursday evening from SaskPower, a media relations spokesperson said, “Safety is SaskPower’s number one priority. SaskPower is working with authorities as internal and external investigations continue.”
