Calgary – Tim McMillan, president and CEO of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP), thinks the March 31 announcement Keystone XL is starting construction on April 1 is a good thing.
In a statement on CAPP’s web page, McMillan said, “Today’s announcement by TC Energy that construction of the Keystone XL (KXL) pipeline will begin April 1, 2020, is good news for Canada. This project is a critical component in getting bottlenecked Canadian oil to market and will play an important role in our economic recovery.
“The Government of Alberta’s investment will create much-needed jobs for Albertans and is expected to generate billions of dollars in government revenues over the life of the project.
“The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers is encouraged by TC Energy’s commitment to invest in the future of Canadian energy. The actions taken by government and industry today will have a significant impact on Canada’s energy industry in the future. This is a step in the right direction, and the Alberta government’s investment will help to get Canadians back to work today and for decades to come.”
